ENVS 375 Exploring Places Through Imaging

Provides an opportunity for students to develop a solid understanding of advanced theories and analytical methods in GIScience and Remote Sensing. It will build on the techniques learned in the introductory level classes (ENVS 265 and ENVS 267) by exposing the student to more advanced methods in developing and utilizing GIS data.

Outcomes

  1. Collect and input spatial data using a variety of different methods and data sources.
  2. Examine the Electromagnetic Spectrum and how it can reveal information about the earth’s surface and the ocean using different bands in the spectrum from analog, digital imagery, and other sources.
  3. Learn to effectively use GIS modeling and automation
  4. Apply GIS analysis to address tribal geospatial problems and/or research questions.
  5. Conceptualize models as systems with inputs, outputs, and processes.
  6. Build confidence to continually learn new dimensions of GIS.
