CARE 410 Developing and Organizing in Native Communities

Provides knowledge, theory, and skills for rebuilding and revitalizing sovereign communities through the development of community resources and community problem solving. Introduces concepts of communities as clients, strength-based organizing, connections between individual and community resiliency, and revitalizing sovereign communities. Prerequisite: CARE 330

1. Develop and initiate specific strategies to rebuild and revitalize sovereign communities based on principles of self-determination.
2. Identify and map community assets and resources.
3. Analyze community issues or problems and match assets and resources with needs including strategies for developing community resources.
4. Articulate the multiple relationships between human services, clients, tribal communities, and communities as clients.
